Believe it or not, there is much confusion over the identity of the Gog and Magog peoples with a lot of the blame going to those who are in a position to know better but who don’t. The Gog and Magog peoples are like locusts once they get going and will be responsible for chaos and human degradation to spread like wildfire.
To understand who these people are and what they represent one should understand in part one of ALLAH’s Names – AL-Witr meaning essentially the odd number but which will symbolize the way things began as a little piece of mass and then to explode into the universe we can see today – the so-called Big Bang theory.
Such that everything no matter how distant things are, will be connected to each other like a proverbial spider’s web. The relationship of one to another is not clear enough for our understanding but it doesn’t need to be if one realizes the flow of things from the SOURCE, which has some intended purpose, is from ALLAH.
By the use of religion, true history, science and some Comparative Religion due to probable outcomes all will come together to help solve the puzzle of the Gog and Magog.
In Biblical terms:
From the son of man in Ezekiel (38:8-23) giving the expression of the ‘Land of Israel’ or more appropriately the ‘flourishing state of Jerusalem’ we can now understand the peoples who will make up these tribes called Gog and Magog.
To make this assumption very clear and to put something of a timeline on it, the following hadith gives us some news about ‘the flourishing state of Jerusalem’ which will be important when we get to Ezekiel found at the end of this text:
Narrated Mu’adh ibn Jabal: The Prophet (pbh) said: The flourishing state of Jerusalem will be when Yathrib {Medina} is in ruins, the ruined state of Yathrib will be when the great war comes, the outbreak of the great war will be at the conquest of Constantinople and the conquest of Constantinople when the Dajjal (Antichrist) comes forth. He (the Prophet) struck his thigh or his shoulder with his hand and said: This is as true as you are here or as you are sitting {with me} (meaning Mu’adh ibn Jabal). Sunan Abu Dawood
To be fair, I will not mention the country that is Gog or the countries making up the Magog because this knowledge should be obvious especially to those who are guided by a history reaching back around a thousand years to the ‘Golden Horde’.
Abu Huraira reported ALLAH’s Apostle (pbh) as saying: Today the wall (barrier) of Gog and Magog has been opened so much, and Wuhaib (in order to explain it) made the figure of ninety with the help of his hand. (Muslim)
Zainab bint Jahsh (one of the Prophet’s wives) reported that ALLAH’s Apostle (pbh) got up from sleep saying: There is no god but ALLAH; there is a destruction in store for Arabia because of turmoil which is at hand, the barrier of Gog and Magog has opened so much. And Sufiyan made a sign of ten with the help of his hand (in order to indicate the width of the gap) and I said: ALLAH’s Messenger, would we be perished in spite of the fact that there would be good people amongst us? Thereupon he said: Of course, but only when the evil predominates. (Muslim)
This ‘barrier’ is best explained from the hadith that discusses the soul from on high being placed in the body of the woman’s womb after 120 days of conception. So, the wall here, which is a misnomer, is actually a barrier that separates the spiritual world from the physical world we are accustomed to.
From this information we can understand that souls will be coming into the Earth’s plane that are destined to behave in certain animalistic ways or nonsensical ways contrary to the souls who have some semblance of faith. When something triggers these souls, they will turn to unsocial and unhealthy activities as if their ‘lusts’ seem to rule their activities. In other words, their rationality or world perception will be skewed to commit acts not considered logical or rational based on the understanding of a ‘reasoning well-adjusted society’.
The barrier as was explained in the hadith is stating that the beginnings of these ‘dark souls’ are starting to come forth to accomplish what they have to accomplish so that they will do evil deeds and get primed for a collective evilness in the future life. And this is represented by the concept that only a small hole has been opened up in the barrier. Otherwise the beings coming through this opening, if the opening was a real wall-type structure, would be smaller than midgets.
As difficult as that is to explain in logical terms it results in what is stated thusly:
On no soul does ALLAH place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns… Quran (2:286).
In this concept everything is done by due measure and ALLAH’s WORD does not change! Free will and free choice, with the consequences of getting every good that it has earned as well as every evil that it has earned, leads to Perfect Justice. A Perfect Justice from a PERFECT LORD resulting in the Final Judgment as to the soul’s rewards or lack thereof.
Sura or chapter 18 in the Quran along with hadith material will give us the 4 known waves of collective souls called Gog and Magog. The first mention of these people came in the era of Zul-Qarnain. The second time they are mentioned (providing a huge key to their known country of origin) is in the 13th Century when this Golden Horde nearly took over the known world but was eventually defeated by the Muslims. The third mention of these insidious people will be during the Second Coming of Jesus the son of Mary (pbh) while the last time and final time that they will make their earthly entrance is just before the world is made flat without growth or herbage leading directly to the Last Day of Judgment.
These people in Sahih Bukhari in the English edition are called the Turks but that is wrong. They are best known as TURKIC peoples and their description fits a certain country and their related neighbors (the Magog). Because the Muslim armies fought with them in the 13thCentury, we know just how brutal and animalistic they are in their thinking and militaristic ways.
Along with this clue is the fact that, according to hadith literature, these wild men are good with the bow and arrow, love riding horses, wear fur lined – animal skinned boots and have faces something like being shield-shaped. These characteristics can be seen even today. These people would go on to form the largest contiguous empire the world has ever known only being hampered in the battle of Ain Jaluit which was the start of their exit from the world’s scene.
Another intriguing point for the Gog peoples is that their leader during the 13th Century died before his conquest of the world was completed but going to his country of origin there still remains a strong belief that he will be resurrected in the future to complete his world domination. So, many of their countrymen feel, wrongly or rightly, that he will return one day to ‘finish the job’ he set out to do.
Now how is it that society can’t stop this world terrorizing menace even when some countries have the atomic bomb while these ‘nomads’ are riding horses and using bow and arrows? That is because their dominating threat is so disruptive it is thought that any advanced technical society would meet these crazed killers with a modern, mechanized force.
When one reviews Ezekiel (38:8-23 – see at the end); understands the meaning of Daniel (11:29 – At the appointed time he (the Anti-christ) shall return and go toward the south; but it shall not be like the former or the latter.) as the re-orienting, in part, of the Earth’s physical appearance; and delves into the hadiths declaring that there will be 3 land subsidence’s (one in the East, one in the West and parts of the Arabian Peninsula together with the drastic climatic changes occurring in Arab lands which will eventually bring forth ‘lush growth’ where bareness once occurred and that the City of Medina will be in ruins at approximately the time of the Anti-christ (Sunnan Abu Dawood), one can see the disruption and chaos that will be the result.
Such chaos and disruption will bring societies down to their lowest point in their quest for survival. For example, the splitting of the Continent of Africa into 3 very large islands along with other natural phenomena occurring in other continents will bring the nations of the Earth down to their knees.
The results of these things will be wars and infighting like the world has not seen in a long, long time. Such a spectacle will be a throwback to a time when men would eventually fight with swords and bows and arrows as manufacturing as we know it will mostly come to a timely end.
This will explain the next hadith from Sahih Muslim featuring this roving band of bloodthirsty individuals (equate this with the verses taken from Ezekiel chapter 38 found below). Here we have a large force terrorizing the surrounding territory called Israel in Ezekiel eventually coming to a place whereby they even threaten Jesus (pbh) and his companions with destruction who are located on the heights of Mount Tur:
Narrated on the authority of Jabir who stated that Gog and Magog would walk until they would reach the mountain of al−Khamar and it is a mountain of Bait−ul−Maqdis and they would say: We have killed those who are upon the earth {in that vicinity}. Let us now kill those who are in the sky and they would throw their arrows towards the sky and the arrows would return to them besmeared with {a substance like} blood. And in the narration of Ibn Hujr (the words are): I {ALLAH} have sent such persons ({Gog and Magog –in such quantity and murderous intent}) that none would dare fight against them. (Muslim)
Such chaos and disruption has been a pattern for this world since the beginning of the formation of life forms on this planet. As a result of these periodic and chaotic events, including the various mass extinction events, a new age rises up from the shadows of the past. And in this case, after the demise in one day of the Gog and Magog, society can once again begin anew as prophesied in the Holy Books and writings (hadiths).
The world, being a test-tube for soul development, allows for the playing out of what might be incorrectly called ‘fate’. Above all, it is a contest of wills and growth or deterioration depending upon the soul’s desire making the phrase, ‘you get what you bargained for’, to be true.
Therefore, there are no weaknesses in ALLAH’s PLAN and it is totally PERFECT and thankfully, is based on HIS MERCY, which outweighs HIS WRATH. So:
BLESSED IS HE IN WHOSE HAND IS THE DOMINION, AND HE IS ABLE TO DO ALL THINGS. Quran (67:1)
So, it is safe to say that man gets what he wants (as a high spiritual entity) but NOT always the way he wants it because mankind does not rule the world or else total chaos would be the result. The question then becomes, ‘who do you really serve, yourself or GOD’?
So the Prophet (pbh) was correct when it was declared:
Yusair b. Jabir reported: Once there blew a red storm in Kufah that there came a person who had nothing to say but (these words): `Abdullah b. Mas`ud, the Last Hour has come. He (`Abdullah b. Mas`ud) was sitting reclining against something, and he said: The Last Hour would not come until shares of inheritance are not distributed and there is no rejoicing over spoils of war. Then he said pointing towards Syria, with the gesture of his hand like this: The enemy shall muster strength against Muslims and the Muslims will muster strength against them (Syrians). I said: You mean Rome? And he said: Yes, and there would be a terrible fight and the Muslims would prepare a detachment (for fighting unto death) which would not return but victorious. They will fight until night will intervene them; both the sides will return without being victorious and both will be wiped out. The Muslims will again prepare a detachment for fighting unto death so that they may not return but victorious. When it would be the fourth day, a new detachment out of the remnant of the Muslims would be prepared and ALLAH will decree that the enemy should be routed. And they would fight such a fight the like of which would not be seen, so much so that even if a bird were to pass their flanks, it would fall down dead before reaching the end of them. (There would be such a large scale massacre) that when counting would be done, (only) one out of a hundred men related to one another would be found alive. So what can be the joy at the spoils of such war and what inheritance would be divided! They would be in this very state that they would hear of a calamity more horrible than this. And a cry would reach them: The Dajjal has taken your place among your offspring. They will, therefore, throw away what would be in their hands and go forward sending ten horsemen, as a scouting party. Allah’s Messenger (pbh) said: I know their names and the names of their forefathers and the color of their horses. They will be the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day or amongst the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day. (Muslim):
Supposedly, this is sometime before the arrival of the Anti-christ near Medina which is one of the two cities he will not be able to enter and that time (his arrival near Medina) precedes the arrival of the Gog and Magog by less than half a year.
This evil and fractious individual (the Anti-christ) will be killed by Jesus the son of Mary (pbh) in Palestine and not long after that a message will come to Jesus that a huge army is approaching that ‘no force’ can defeat it. Therefore, the ‘holy ones’ or those accompanying Jesus will flee to Mount Tur to pray and wait upon the dictates of the LORD (as HE ACCOMPLISHES WHAT HE WILLS AND WHEN HE WILLS IT!)
At such a dramatic moment and with no time to spare, one would think in normal times (but these are not normal times) that speed would be of the urgency. Traveling over such long distances necessitates the use of plane, helicopter, train or even car. Traveling by horse, while efficient, will take a long time to cover significant distances. This, in and by itself, shows that the topography of Earth has undergone such a radical change as to reduce important missions to the horse and cart era.
From the Book of Ezekiel:
After a long time you {O Gog} will be summoned. In the latter years you will enter a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and all now dwell securely {for but a brief time only}.
You and all your troops, and many peoples with you {the Magog} will go up, advancing like a thunderstorm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.
This is what the LORD GOD says: On that day, thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will devise an evil plan.
You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of un-walled villages; I will come against a tranquil people who dwell securely, all of them living without walls or bars or gates—
in order to seize the spoil and carry off the plunder, to turn a hand against the desolate places now inhabited and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and possessions and who live at the center of the land.’
Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its villages will ask, ‘Have you come to capture the plunder? Have you assembled your hordes to carry away loot, to make off with silver and gold, to take cattle and goods, to seize great spoil?’
Therefore prophesy, son of man, and tell Gog that this is what the LORD GOD says: On that day when MY people Israel are dwelling securely, will you not take notice of this?
And you will come from your place out of the far north—you and many peoples with you {the Magog}, all riding horses—a mighty horde, a huge army.
You will advance against MY people Israel like a cloud covering the land. It will happen in the latter days, O Gog, that I will bring you against MY land, so that the nations may know ME when I show MYSELF holy in you before their eyes {for in one day this mighty army will be vanquished when ALLAH sends some disease upon them to kill them all at one time}.
This is what the LORD GOD says: Are you the one of whom I have spoken in former days through MY servants, the prophets of Israel, who in those times prophesied for years that I would bring you against them?
Now on that day when Gog comes against the land of Israel {the eventual land given to the Christ-soul to rule over as his special kingdom}, declares the LORD GOD, MY wrath will flare up.
In MY zeal and fiery rage I proclaim that on that day there will be a great earthquake in the land of Israel.
The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that crawls upon the ground, and all mankind on the face of the earth will tremble at MY presence. The mountains will be thrown down, the cliffs will collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.
And I will summon a sword against Gog on all MY mountains {meaning that eventually in one day all of these soul-deformed militants will die}, declares the LORD GOD, and every man’s sword will be against his brother.
I will execute judgment upon him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour out torrents of rain, hailstones, fire, and sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations {the Magog} with him.
I will magnify and sanctify MYSELF, and will reveal MYSELF in the sight of many nations {through MY servant Jesus the son of Mary}. Then they will know that I am the LORD {and all (those who have true faith in their hearts) will believe in him (Jesus, and follow him in Islam) before he dies {and he will be prayed over by the Muslims and buried amongst the ‘rich’ (Isaiah chapter 53) meaning that he (Jesus) will be buried together with Prophet Muhammad, Abu Bakr and ‘Umar – Quran (4:159)}. Ezekiel (38:8-23).
