Generally speaking and in all honesty the answer is probably not. Not because there was no true connection but because it was a practice of a few ‘glory seekers’/glory hounds to name a companion as close to the original Apostles as possible for ‘privileged status’.

While Glaucus may have been the person that Basilides talked about concerning revealing the man’s name who was crucified in place of Jesus (pbh), it is most likely the secretary of Glaucus who was the dispenser of truth. So, this would be the 3rd generation being equivalent to the tābi’ al-tabi’īn in the Islamic hierarchy.

Of course dedicated people of any true faith are not going to let things go just for the fun of it. So, like in Islam, the early Christians had the top level witnesses as the Apostles (Islamic equivalency – Ṣaḥābah) and this was followed by the Presbyters (Islamic equivalency – tābi’ūn) of whom many learned from the Apostles directly, example Luke). Finally, this was followed by the initiates (the 3rd level/ or people trained as teachers – Islamic equivalency – tābi’ al-tabi’īn) who were supposed to carry on the flame of truth.

After this, a great deal of dilution takes place just like in the Islamic Faith and things tend to get perverted by sectarian squabbles and other trash. In the case of bourgeoning Christianity, one finds many Gnostic ideas floating around a ‘pagan base’ and of course pure Christian ideas still hanging on.

Like all things on this planet (a built-in feature), things tend to run downhill in a form of entropy unless explicitly protected by the ONE GOD. And HE declared HIS protection of the Quran, the only Holy Book in existence to be so blessed as to be completely pure – see Ali Ataie’s Is the Quran Preserved featured on Blogging Theology on YouTube.

As was stated before, Jesus (pbh) became officially crucified in around 147-148 CE due to the leadership of philosopher/church father and chief showman, Justin Martyr and his investigations! That is a heck of a long time to nail things down.

By that time, no real knowledgeable person was alive who could steer people in the right direction and therefore; it is entirely logical that Jewish reports and Roman documents would sway the day in favor of the crucifixion. So, Earth once again claims its own as it tends to do with buried bodies and knowledge/truth becomes what the ‘victors’ say it is!

This is an earthly trait and can be seen all over the place and is used by people who are in a position of authority like the philosophers/religious leaders/ dynamic statesmen and pure and simple dictators. They may be right, they may be wrong but it all boils down to one point! They are bigger than you!!!

Welcome to religious persecution!

Does John (10:16) refer to the Ummah of Jesus (pbh)?

And other sheep I have which are NOT of this {current/Jewish} fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear my voice; and there will be {in this kingdom given to me} one flock and one shepherd {and hence, one religion/belief system}.                  John (10:16)

Jesus (pbh) is THE GOOD SHEPHARD to bring in the ‘flock’. That does not mean that these ‘sheep’ belong to him! He is that one, according to the Dead Sea Scrolls mentioning the king (Muhammad) sitting at a table with the ‘other prophets’, while the ‘chief priest’ (the Messiah) is waiting to bless the ‘food’, who will gather the sheep in his kingdom on Earth to be eventually presented to the respective prophets on the Last Day of Judgment.

The biggest Ummah or group of people belongs to Prophet Muhammad (pbh), ALLAH WILLING, followed by Moses (pbh). This is presumed based off of the idea of ‘True Testament’ Legitimacy (meaning that the real New Testament is the Quran) as was mentioned before.

The Prophet (pbh) said, “On the day of Resurrection ALLAH will say, ‘O Adam!’ Adam will reply, ‘Labbaik our LORD, and Sa`daik’ then there will be a loud call (saying), ALLAH orders you to take from among your offspring a mission for the (Hell) Fire.’ Adam will say, ‘O LORD! Who are the mission for the (Hell) Fire?’ ALLAH will say, ‘Out of each thousand, take out 999.’ At that time every pregnant female shall drop her load (have a miscarriage) and a child will have grey hair. And you shall see mankind as in a drunken state, yet not drunk, but severe will be the torment of ALLAH.” (When the Prophet (pbh) mentioned this), the people were so distressed (and afraid) that their faces got changed (in color) whereupon the Prophet (pbh) said, “From Gog and Magog nine-hundred ninety-nine will be taken out and one from you. You Muslims (compared to the large number of other people) will be like a black hair on the side of a white ox, or a white hair on the side of a black ox, and I hope that you will be one-fourth of the people of Paradise.” On that, we said, “Allahu-Akbar!” Then he said, “I hope that you will be) one-third of the people of Paradise.” We again said, “Allahu-Akbar!” Then he said, “(I hope that you will be) one-half of the people of Paradise.” So we said, Allahu Akbar.”  (Bukhari)

Jesus (pbh) is a ‘caretaker’ or leader of the ‘sheep’ for those people in his kingdom on Earth meaning ‘in his cycle’ as an ‘adam-type’ being the ‘chief priest’ after the order of Melchizedeck so often spoken about but so much misunderstood and this was his job as set forth in the Gospels:

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the FATHER except through me {first the paradise on Earth set in that system for the Believers, then there will be the sorting out for the Paradise in the heavens for the Believers as to their true rank}.   John (14:6)

Context always matters and it is the first thing that gets thrown out of the conversation when one’s ego takes over:

If you want the good things in the Hereafter as Jesus (pbh) did (for his own soul), you have to work for it and take it one step at a time or stage by stage!

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little.”  Isaiah (28:10)

You shall surely travel from stage to stage. Quran (84:19)

Addition to Testament Naming:

Another way of looking at this issue of Testament naming is that the Old Testament in its original form is composed of the 5 Books of Moses (pbh). However, the other books by other prophets being considered part of the ‘Children of Israel’ chain will go into the ‘greater Old Testament’ as we have it today. Thus, the Old Testament is a collection of prophetic Books from the Children of Israel or, if you prefer, the Jewish experience.

Because Jesus (pbh), as can be easily proven was the LAST OF THE JEWISH PROPHETS by his own definition as to whom he came to, his Book fits into the category of being the last Book of the Old Testament! This then logically makes only two viable Testaments (according to scripture): The Old Testament and the Quran.
