It is one thing to say a certain thing but it is another thing to show or prove it! So, it is always helpful to give examples to bring a more stable orientation to the topic at hand. In this case, it is beneficial to see one example of how the Spirit of truth is Prophet Muhammad (pbh) and not some ‘will-o’-the- wisp’ of the imagination thrown up by desperate people trying to evade the topic at hand.
The greatest teachers that have ever existed were the prophets! Therefore, their lessons should be studied and dwelt upon to maximize their effect.
They did not call for financial success as the center of wealth to be sought but rather they called for an understanding of true faith (beliefs) that would propel mankind to great works to enable him to win out over Earthly trials and succeed in the MOST IMPORTANT QUEST TO BE WON: PARADISE. So, Paradise becomes the goal and not some get-rich-quick scheme.
Faith healing as it pertains to Christianity basically the Born Again-type and Prosperity- type Evangelism, which is an old bug-a-boo from ages past is a good example as it applies to this era of history. Faith healing in general can be classified into several categories:
- False Faith healing as can be done with several accomplices in the audience by having a person pretend to be sick and then magically cured by a so-called preacher touching that person or the person touching a TV screen if they are at home. Those who engage in such activities are nothing but low-life crooks (swindlers) just looking for fame and fortune (at the end of the day: CASH).
The preacher uses this as a way to lift some valuable currency or hopeful pledge of cash off of any pigeon gullible enough to believe in such nonsense. This so-called activity is done in the name of Jesus so as to bilk the un-principled and unwary (ignorant) members (fans) of such hogwash.
- Jinn-type of healing whereby a ‘healing of sorts’ takes place and the result is that the healer and the healed both are convinced that ‘lord Jesus’ actually was involved in this process and this happens to REINFORCE the message concerning Jesus being more than a man and that the preacher has some magical connection to Jesus and thus salvation. Hence, the preacher believes he has that magical connection to Jesus and is heavenly ordained to continue passing off false doctrine as an absolute sign of his chosen blessedness.
- Some Actual healing takes place and this is not all too common and usually this healing takes place over a period of time which can be several days, weeks, months or even years. This method is generally called the ‘laying on of hands’, saying certain expressions, taking certain natural plant or animal products or even the power of positive thinking. The human being happens to be a marvelous machine and is capable of doing some amazing things.
- Instant-type healing, which was practiced to some degree in every truthful religion, usually done by the founder or those who are associated with the founder of that particular faith being alive in or around that era. A good example of this is some form of healings done by the original and authentic Disciples of Jesus (pbh) as recorded in the New Testament. After their deaths, this type of healing process virtually ended!
Now according to John Chapter 16 verse 13, the human race who will believe and follow this ‘Spirit of truth’ will be able to have correct knowledge concerning matters ranging from A to Z related to life giving principles and will be able to instruct those who can be taught such that:
However, when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will GUIDE {as in instruction} you into ALL TRUTH: for he shall NOT speak of himself {on his own authority}; but whatsoever he shall hear {from on HIGH}, that shall he speak: and he will show you things {that will take place in the future as all high prophets do} to come. John (16:13)
Category number one concerns various types of crooks and other low-life pretenders. We have the religious law and common sense to see and evaluate what is going on. So category number one is covered.
Category number 3 is covered in Islam in various ways from hadiths (sayings) on certain practices, or natural medicines/actions to take or even certain expressions to recite for healing purposes. So category number three is covered.
Category number 4 can be shown to have occurred at various times during the Prophet’s life (pbh) and the life of some of his Companions. So category number four is covered.
Category number 2 is the most dangerous of the categories because something is actually done that normally cannot be explained except to fall back on the ‘justified or sanctified by Christ’ self-serving-type of explanation. However, Islam has the answers for that one!
The answers are found in the Quran and accurate hadith material as well as from Paul in the New Testament!
Jinn-type creatures are beings made from fire. Some Jinn are good and some are bad. The Prophet (pbh) stated that every human being has a Jinn within side of him and they flow in the body like the blood does. His Companions asked if he had a Jinn within his holy and precious body and he stated that he did but his Jinn was one who had totally surrendered to Islam and urged him to do good.
The purpose of the bad type of Jinn is to create ‘urges’ within the human being so as to make him do bad things and the worst things the better. There is a true hadith whereby a Jinn was happy about causing mischief in a human host and he went up to the High Jinn with a sense of pride about what he did. However, this high Jinn (the Devil) was not pleased but rather told the mischievous Jinn to go back and cause a dispute between the husband and wife which had a greater potential for a more evil outcome.
Jinn are creatures that have, like humans, various states of status. One thing that they are good at is communicating with each other so as to cause more friction and irresponsibility in humans. In category number 2 (Jinn-type of healing) one can see how very dangerous things can play out.
For example, a man with a crippled hand, a crippled hand twisted out of shape for several years by a Jinn, is put in a situation whereby he and the false religious healer and the so-called worshipers of that congregation can have an experience of being ‘entertained’ and trapped in a false belief system that actually has been made attractive to their own perverted desires.
The Jinn outside the man sees an opportunity to cause a lot of mischief and communicates with the Jinn in the man who is causing that man’s hand to be deformed in shape and useless in function. Somehow the Jinn inside this man sees how much damage can be accomplished by actually freeing the man from his crippling condition.
With the man is freed from this crippling condition, the preacher goes on to bask in his own glory of being a so-called Divine Instrument of healing. The man who is healed is now held as a slave to this false philosophy and the witnesses to this charade become strong followers or believers in this putrid doctrine that this false healer is peddling.
The lessons from this are many but basically as the Quran says in that a believer who disbelieves, then believes again and then goes on disbelieving will have his ‘light’ of truth cutoff from him. Hence, by strongly and joyfully rejoicing in attributing excellence or anything else to a ‘false god’/creature/man or idea, that person has committed SHIRK (false worship).
The idea here is to keep a remembrance of the ONE GOD in one’s heart, to approach HIM in a humble manner and to ask for HIS PROTECTION, GUIDANCE, MERCY and FORGIVENESS.
So, to the Christian by going to the Spirit of truth can hopefully understand what and why Jesus (pbh) declared the following:
Wherefore by their fruits {actions} you shall know them.
Not every person that says unto me, lord, lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but {ONLY} he that does the WILL of my FATHER WHO is in heaven.
Many will say to me ON THAT DAY, lord, lord, did we not prophesied in your name; and in your name have cast out devils {causing many to be healed}; and in your name done many wonderful works?
And then I {Jesus} will profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: SO DEPART FROM ME, {ALL} YOU THAT WORK EVIL.
Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house {FAITH} upon a rock {GOOD BUT ACCEPTABLE DEEDS}:
And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and that house did not fall for it was based upon a rock {strong foundation of TRUE FAITH}.
And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does not do them, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand:
And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it {that soul}.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his teachings:
For he taught them as {being} one having authority {like a prophet sent by GOD}, and not as the scribes. Matthew (7:20-29)
Say: “Shall WE tell you the greatest losers in respect of (their) deeds?
“Those whose efforts HAVE BEEN WASTED in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds.
They are those who deny the {real} signs and evidences of their LORD and the meeting with HIM (in the Hereafter). So their works are in VAIN and on the Day of Resurrection, WE shall assign no weight for them.
That shall be their recompense, HELL; because they {actually} disbelieved and took MY Revelations and MY Messengers by way of jest and MOCKERY. Quran (18:103-106)
For HE {ALLAH} cannot be questioned for HIS acts {doings}, but they will be questioned (for theirs). Q (21: 23)
“YOU HAVE MET THIS FATE because you rejoiced on the earth in things OTHER than the truth, AND THEN EXULTED IN IT.” Quran (40:75)
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness {found} in them that perish; because they did not receive {believe in or fight for} the love of the truth that they might be saved.
AND FOR THIS CAUSE {contempt for GOD’s TRUTH} GOD shall send {upon} them STRONG DELUSION that they should believe {in} a lie {focus not on doing what is right – the real food for the soul}:
That they all might be damned who didn’t believe the truth but had pleasure in {took their comfort in doing other than the truthful WAY} unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians (2: 10-12)
Of course there are other examples and quotes from the Scriptures to reinforce this idea. But if one doesn’t see it, then no amount of common sense or logic will persuade the doubter who ends up doubting to his or her own peril.
