How to utilize Enscape Impact for Building Performance Analysis

Despite the availability of resources for sustainable project design, early access to energy insights is crucial for architects to meet these goals. Introducing Enscape Impact, a new add-on that offers early-stage building performance simulation within the design workflow, allowing architects to evaluate the impact of design decisions on energy use from the start.

What is building performance analysis?

Building performance analysis (BPA) is a process used to evaluate and optimize a building’s efficiency, sustainability, and functionality throughout its lifecycle.

To make sure a building satisfies its operational and sustainability objectives, it entails evaluating a number of performance factors, such as energy usage, environmental effect, and system capacity.

Architects can begin to understand how their designs will affect energy use and building performance by including analysis early in the design process. This will result in more efficient and high-performing structures.

What is Enscape Impact?

Enscape Impact, developed in partnership with global climate tech company IES, is a brand-new add-on designed to seamlessly integrate real-time rendering with building performance metrics. It empowers you to optimize building performance and sustainability directly within your workflow to enhance your creative vision.

Enscape Impact provides fast energy modeling simulation for the early stages of design. You can now evaluate your creations’ sustainability much earlier in the design process and instantly calculate and compare key performance metrics, such as peak cooling and heating loads, as you design. It’s also possible to see the data manifested within the render, making it easier to comprehend and communicate the impact of design decisions.

Enscape Impact is fully compatible with major CAD and BIM software tools, such as Revit, SketchUp, Archicad, Rhino, and Vectorworks. The building energy modeling tool transforms architectural design by embedding energy analysis directly into the visualization process. Currently available for Windows.

How analysis is calculated in Enscape Impact

Enscape Impact collects essential data from your model, including layout, building age, location, and type. This data is then processed by the IES’s APACHE engine, one of the leading whole-building energy simulation tools.

The APACHE engine uses this high-level data to determine detailed thermal properties and systems suited to your building and its location. It factors in elements like building fabric, operational schedules, internal space conditions, typical internal loads, and the types of HVAC systems.

APACHE relies on various data sources, including weather data and ASHRAE standards (the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers), to provide accurate estimates. For buildings outside the US or Europe, the tool compares them to structures in similar climate zones.

Lastly, APACHE conducts a dynamic thermal simulation, considering sun shading, solar gain, and heat transfer processes, resulting in a thorough estimation of energy usage for both the building and its equipment.

How to enter your building information into Enscape Impact

To enter your building project data into Enscape Impact, click on the ‘Settings’ tab. There are currently three required fields and one optional (more will be added in time):

      • Location

The location and orientation should automatically be pulled from your design software if it is set up correctly there. If not, you can manually enter the location here.

      • Building Type

Currently, there are 6 building types to choose from, but this will expand in time.

Select from Single Family, Multiple Family, Office, School or University, Hospital, or Dining.

      • Build Year

For the build year, you can choose either the original construction date or a future date for planned construction.

      • Last Renovation

This field is not mandatory, but if appropriate, you can add the date when the building was last renovated.

Click on the ‘Dashboard’ tab to start the analysis, which will take a short time to process.

Visualizing the metrics

Once the analysis is complete, several metrics will provide a quick snapshot of a building’s expected energy performance.

  • Peak Loads: This represents the combined total of heating energy, cooling energy, internal gains, and solar gains, helping to determine the capacity needed for systems like HVAC.
  • Total Carbon Emission: This shows the predicted annual carbon dioxide emission factors for the location.
  • Energy Use Intensity (EUI): This metric measures a building’s energy consumption per unit area, with a lower EUI indicating greater energy efficiency.
  • Energy End Use: This highlights the specific purposes for which energy is consumed within a building, helping to identify opportunities for energy savings through more efficient technologies or practices.

To visualize the building performance simulation on your model, click on the ‘Settings’ tab once again and toggle on ‘False Color’. You can then select each of the four outputs (Peak Loads, Heating Energy, Cooling Energy, and Solar Gains) to review them as a color scale distributed onto the entire building.

Your model will turn white, and colors will be applied to reflect the results of the data analysis. From here, you can demonstrate a building’s energy consumption to stakeholders or analyze and adjust your design further to improve its energy efficiency.

System Requirements for Enscape and PC Recommendations

Enscape is a powerful real-time rendering and virtual reality plugin widely used in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. It lets users visualize their designs interactively, providing a glimpse into how a project looks and feels before it’s built. To make the most of this robust tool, it is essential to understand its system requirements and have the right PC specifications. This blog, iRender will explore what you need to run Enscape efficiently and optimally.

Enscape Official System Requirements

According to the official website of Enscape, the most up-to-date hardware specifications for Enscape, as of version 3.4.4, are outlined here.

Perspective on the Official Enscape Hardware Specifications

1. CPU (Processor) Requirements

It—and similar rendering applications—primarily relies on the CPU for non-rendering tasks, such as managing the user interface and loading scene data. However, this does not imply that the CPU is insignificant. A sluggish CPU that causes delays in the user interface or prolongs scene loading times can greatly hinder workflow and overall productivity.

The CPU recommendation must also consider what application(s) you might use alongside Enscape.

If you’re planning to use Enscape alongside 3D software such as SketchUp, Revit, etc., and want a CPU that will last you a long while without breaking the bank, then I would suggest taking a look at the Intel i5-13600K or the slightly older i5-12600K if you can grab it for cheap.

If you find yourself in need of more power in the future, upgrading to an i7 or i9 processor is a straightforward option. Alternatively, if you prefer AMD, the Ryzen 9 7900X or 7900X3D offers excellent performance for its value.

2. GPU (Video Card) Requirements

Like any rendering software, the most crucial component of a PC—the one that will be utilized the most by the application—is the GPU.

Depending on your requirements, a mid-range GPU can suffice for your needs. However, it’s important to have at least 4 GB of VRAM, or 6 GB being the current minimum. This is essential because Enscape uses VRAM to store scene data during rendering. While a slower GPU will still allow you to render your projects, the process may take longer.

For a GPU that doesn’t have enough VRAM or if you’re building a new PC, you can just buy an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6600 XT and you’ll be able to render almost any scene you throw at Enscape.

However, if you want even more performance, CUDA Cores & Stream Processors, and VRAM for faster rendering, I’d recommend looking at the RTX 4080/4090 or AMD RX 6950 XT.

3. RAM (Memory) Requirements

Enscape adheres to the same RAM guidelines as many other software applications. Having a minimum of 16 GB of RAM will ensure that you are adequately equipped.

Performance Requirements for Different Enscape Applications

1. Simple Projects

For basic projects with polygon counts ranging from 50,000 to 200,000, the minimum specifications will generally suffice. These projects utilize lower poly counts, simpler textures, and minimal advanced lighting effects, allowing users to achieve satisfactory results even on mid-range systems.

  •  GPU with 4 GBs of VRAM
  • RAM: 6-8 GBs

2. Moderate Projects

As project complexity increases, featuring higher polygon counts (200,000 to 500,000) and more detailed textures, upgrading to an Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 processor, along with a more powerful GPU such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT with at least 6 GB of VRAM, will significantly boost performance.

3. Complex Projects

If you’re working on highly detailed scenes with polygon counts exceeding 500,000 and extensive use of advanced lighting and effects, investing in top-tier hardware is crucial. Consider opting for an Intel i9 or AMD Ryzen 9 CPU, paired with a high-end GPU like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or 3090, and increasing your RAM to 32 GB or more for smooth performance.

Conclusion

Enscape is a fantastic tool for visualization, and understanding its system requirements can make a significant difference in your workflow. By meeting or exceeding the recommended specifications, you’ll ensure you can utilize its full potential without frustrating downtime due to hardware limitations. Whether you are a seasoned professional or just starting in visualization, investing in the right PC gear will help you create stunning, lifelike renderings that can captivate your audience.

If you’re planning to upgrade your system or build a new one for Enscape, consider your specific needs and future projects. With the right setup, you’ll be able to bring your architectural visions to life with ease and efficiency. Happy rendering!

Chaos releases the latest update in Enscape 4.2

Chaos has released Enscape 4.2, the new version of its real-time rendering software for architectural visualization. The release extends the new Artistic Visual Modes system for applying readymade visual styles to images and improves the visual quality of software ray tracing. Enscape’s latest version, 4.2, gives you host application-specific features for tighter integration with design applications.  The most important benefit of Enscape is its smooth integration with the host application, which is strengthened by this collection of upgrades, enabling you to work more quickly and accurately than before.

To understand more about it, let’s discuss it with iRender in this blog.

An intuitive real-time renderer

Since its initial release in 2015, Enscape has emerged as a significant tool in the architectural visualization industry, ranking among the top 10 in the most recent CGarchitect rendering survey. By integrating with CAD and design programs like Rhino and SketchUp, the software enables users to view and experience enormous architectural scenes in real time in virtual reality or on screen.

Output is ray traced and can be used for less demanding final-quality rendering. It can generate stills, animations, 360-degree panoramas, or interactive scenes. Its developer, also called Enscape, merged with V-Ray developer Chaos in 2022.

Enscape Impact

Enscape Impact is a Windows add-on for building performance analysis that integrates with Enscape’s main software. Enscape users were able to test the beta version in Enscape 4.1. We are now eager to release the commercial version.

Enscape Impact lets you see your building’s energy performance early in the design process, enabling you to make well-informed decisions about its sustainability.

Revit Graphics Override

In Enscape 4.2, you can enhance your visualization in Revit by using graphics overrides effectively. The Revit Graphics Override feature lets you visualize material and color overrides in renderings defined by Revit Filters. It ensures that rendering tools reflect the same object appearances and overrides used in Revit, enhancing workflow and presentation capabilities.

Within the Visual Settings, you can adjust the Object Overrides to change how specific categories or types of elements appear in Enscape. You can modify settings such as Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation, or apply specific material overrides for certain categories (like walls, roofs, or floors).

Software ray-tracing improvements

Enscape 4.2 introduces various improvements and enhancements in ray tracing capabilities, significantly improving the quality and realism of renderings. Here are some key ray-tracing improvements and features in Enscape 4.2:

Enhanced Ray Tracing Performance

Best rendering service for Enscape in 2023 with RTX4090

Enscape is a commercial real-time rendering and 3D visualization programs which is often used in architecture, engineering and construction. It’s deeply compatible with BIM applications like Archicad, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Vectorworks. Although being a great solution for many architectural firms and companies, there are not many rendering services which can serve Enscape render.

In this article, iRender guides you on the system requirements and the cloud rendering service for Enscape in 2023 with RTX4090.

System requirements for Enscape

Operating system

Windows 10 or higher, macOS Monterey 12.6 and higher.

Processor

CPU is not a major factor when you use Enscape, and there’s no information about the minimum or recommended CPU for Enscape. However, based on our experience with many real-time rendering software like Lumion, Twinmotion, D5 Render, it will need a strong CPU with high clock speed to load the scene smoothly.

Memory

Considering that Enscape is always used with BIM programs, and modern applications are RAM-hungry, we suggest at least 32 GB of RAM. You can escalate to 64GB of RAM for complex and high-quality project.

Graphics card

GPU is the most important factor for the performance of Enscape. The more powerful it is, the faster Enscape can render. It’s really hard to buy the best graphics card because it depends on your budget, therefore let’s narrow it down to your project complexity.

For simple projects with low poly count (approximately 50-200K), low quality textures, limited use of lighting, a GPU with 4GB of VRAM is okay.

For intermediate projects, you will use more complex geometry, higher-resolution textures, more lighting effects. The poly counts could be more than 500K. In this case, a recommended GPU with 6GB VRAM is enough.

For complex projects, like city view or building with many details, millions of poly count and textures assets, with a lot of lighting and reflections, you will need at least a GPU with 8GB of VRAM. It could be more VRAM needed, and it’s worth because the difference is huge.

Additional Software Requirements

For deploying Enscape via Command Line, here’s a list of that required software:

        • .NET Framework 4.5.2 or higher (already installed for Windows 10)
        • Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable
        • Vulkan Runtime

iRender - The best rendering service for Enscape in 2023 with RTX4090

iRender provide to you high performance and configurable server system for 3D rendering, AI Training, VR & AR, simulation, etc. We believe that design and creative activities are private and personal that only you artists will know what you want with your animation. That’s the reason why we provide remote servers so that you can install any software you need, and do whatever you like with your project.

You will only need to install your software for the first time, and next time you connect to the computer everything is ready for use.

Because Enscape can utilize the power of only one GPU rendering, we suggest using our server 3S – single RTX4090 for the most stable and economic performance.

Let’s compare our server 3S specifications with the system requirements of Enscape.

Our CPU is AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3955WX, with clock speed is 3.9GHz and can reach 4.3GHz with Turbo Boost. It ensures the loading process to be fast and smooth. The single core performance of it is 1401, according to the resulting Cinebench R23 single-core performance scores, a decent score for workload like interacting with Enscape’s GUI and loading scene.

RAM is 256GB and Storage is NVMe SSD with 2TB. With those configs, you can be assured that every type of project would suit, from simple to complex one.

Come to the most important factor: Graphics card (GPU). Our GPU is RTX4090, the latest one which is just released at the end of 2022. You can check more about the benchmark of video cards here, with RTX4090 being the king with highest score.

The recommended graphics card for Enscape is often RTX3060 with 12GB of VRAM. While RTX4090 is double in terms of VRAM, the speed could be 3-4 times faster. With the latest ADA Lovelace architecture, it can even outrun the GPU like A5000.

And at iRender, we provide you more support than just those config.

Free and convenient transferring tool

iRender offers a powerful and free file transfer tool: iRender drive for macOS and Linux user. With fast file transfer speed, large data capacity, and completely free. You can transfer all the necessary data into our iRender drive tool at any time without connecting to the server. The data will be automatically synchronized in the Z drive inside the server, ready for you to use.

The tool is also integrated into iRender GPU app, an all in one application where you can free your workflow from accessing iRender website, and just have to work on the iRender GPU app.

Flexible price

The price of server 3S is $8.2 per hour. However, the server is available for fixed rental when you boot (price at $23.124 for 3 hours rental, about 6% off compared to hourly basis). And you can even catch more attractive option for your big project when you rent it for daily/weekly/monthly basis, with discount from 10-20%.

Real human 24/7 support service

With us, it does not matter where you are present – as long as you are connected to the internet, you can access and enjoy the 24/7 rendering services that we provide, and if you meet any issue, our real human 24/7 support team is always ready to support you.

Unique rendering service supports single RTX4090

When you use iRender render farm, you can free your computer during the hardest and most arduous part – rendering. That is also the reason that Render Farm service is becoming more and more popular and essential. However, as far as we know, iRender is proud to be one of the very few render farms that support single card for Twinmotion.

With the above advantages and the machine configuration package that iRender has just released, we believe that Enscape users will have the most comfortable, quickest, and most effective rendering time.

What's New in Enscape 3.3?

On April 6, Enscape, a leading provider of real-time visualization, 3D rendering, and virtual reality technology for the global AEC industry, has released Enscape 3.3. This lastest version empowers architects and designers to design beyond boundaries. New features allow users to improve their design workflow and create more impressive real-time visualizations and immersive experiences. Some key features and improvements of Enscape 3.3 include site context, transparent materials in reflections, new educational assets and materials, and more.

Let’s take a closer look at these new features and improvements in today’s blog.

1. Site Context

You can now import a project’s surroundings into your renderings without the use of a third-party tool by utilizing OpenStreetMap data. Simply open Site Context within the Enscape rendering window, enter an address or coordinates, and choose your import method: Streets and Sidewalks; Buildings and Landmarks; Topography, or import the entire surrounding area.

2. Transparent Materials in Reflections

Reflections are incredibly important when it comes to creating realistic visualizations. As the name reveals, transparent materials will now appear in your reflections if you are using a graphics card that supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing (NVIDIA RTX series and AMD RX6xxx series).

This enhancement improves the visualization of rendered glass and water surfaces. Check out the examples below to see how the rendering quality differs.

Previously in Enscape:

Now in Enscape 3.3:

3. Education Assets and Materials

Enscape has expanded the Enscape Asset Library and the Enscape Material Library once again with new high-quality assets and materials for you to place directly into your projects and renderings.

Select from 280 new education-themed assets, including classroom furniture, chalkboards and whiteboards, toys, playground equipment, and musical instruments. And choose from over 30 new materials to place into your education scenes. The asset package will also include a large collection of new 3D people.

4. Alpha Channel Export

The new export feature allows users to easily render an image with a transparent background automatically applied. Alpha Channel Export saves your time when post-processing your renders to get the desired look or effect.

There are two ways to access this option. Go to Visual Settings > Output > Image and choose to export only the Alpha Channel (see the checkbox ‘Apply Alpha Channel’ beneath File Format) or select the checkbox that allows you to Export Object-ID, Material-ID, Depth Channel, and Alpha Channel.

5. Pin Enscape on Top

Users can pin the Enscape rendering window, together with the menus which open with the renderer, to the top of your modeling window. This allows users who may not use two screens or more to work in the modeling software and immediately see changes in the overlayed Enscape window, which is always on top when this function is activated.

To activate this, go to Enscape Window Settings > Preferences > Window > Pin Enscape window on top of the host application.

6. Material Overwrite

It is now possible to replace an Enscape material directly via the Enscape Material Editor. You can now replace Enscape material files without the need to manually import and export them.

Effective Tips to Improve Interior Lighting in Enscape for Rhino

Lighting is as important as every other element of the design. Good lighting changes and transforms a space. We use light and shade to make a room feel comfortable but also dramatic and atmospheric. Great lighting creates depth and height, cozy spots, and draws attention to your most impressive areas. It’s all about the balance of light and shade and bringing new energy to an interior. Some may just draw a grid of downlights into their plans for your interior, which won’t do justice to what they have designed. For today’s article, let’s explore 3 professional tips that are sure to improve the quality and clarity of your interior renderings in Enscape for Rhino.

Achieving good lighting in an interior rendering can be tricky, especially in the absence of exterior daylight. When working with Rhino, Enscape does not have its own built-in lights so we have to rely on Rhino lights instead. There are a few different options that we can choose from and each of them behaves differently from the other. You can experiment with each of them to get the desired effect. Here are 3 easy tips to help ensure good lighting in your interior renderings.

1. Make sure you have adequate lighting

This is probably the most important thing to pay attention to. Oftentimes, our interior lighting doesn’t look good simply because we don’t have adequate lighting. This is especially crucial when we are working with scenes that don’t receive exterior sunlight to help illuminate the interior space. So spend the time adding sufficient lights to your Rhino model to see the best lighting results in Enscape.

2. Use Enscape global artificial light dial

When adjusting the brightness and overall look of Rhino lights, it’s suggested to leave their Rhino settings at their default after placing them. Instead, we could use the Enscape global Artificial Light Brightness setting to adjust how bright they are. This is important to determine how strong or soft you need your lights to be. This is not where we determine the overall brightness/exposure of the scene. Rather, we are focusing on the artificial lights’ behavior in the scene i.e. what kind of shadows we want them to cast (harsh or soft), how strong of a contrast we want between the light and shadow areas in our scene, etc.

3. Use Enscape global exposure dial to adjust final exposure

Once you have the artificial lights setting where you like it, evaluate your scene and see if it’s over-exposed or under-exposed. Your scene may be under-exposed if you opted for lower artificial light brightness in the previous setting, or over-exposed if you went for higher light brightness. The final step is to simply adjust the Enscape global Exposure setting to get the appropriate exposure that you’re looking for.

Conclusion

Hope that with these above 3 simple steps, Rhino and Enscape users can make a world of difference! Whether you are a student presenting to your classmates and professors, or a professional presenting to clients, stakeholders, and/or the public, you can have more confidence that they will quickly and accurately understand your design intent. This can lead to quicker approvals and higher client satisfaction. And if you are struggling with your low-end PC while doing your work, and you are looking for a solution that could help you to boost your workflow and especially your render time smoothly and efficiently. Let’s choose iRender Cloud Rendering Service.  At iRender, we provide servers that are suitable with Enscape users, with the most powerful graphic card nowadays such as RTX 3090 at the price from 3.8 usd per machine hour with the detailed configuration below:

Simple Steps to Create Video Creation in Enscape with iRender Cloud Rendering

When navigating a model in real-time is not practical, or you want a pre-scripted path that aligns with your talking points, creating a walkthrough video is the solution. And now with the related updates in Enscape 3.0, the process is even easier! In Blog’s Today, we will cover the powerful video creation features and workflows found within the Enscape plugin. Enscape has a powerful yet simple workflow for developing a video walkthrough.

Getting started with video creation in Enscape

Enscape provides a great video walkthrough renderer in Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Archicad and Vectorworks. The overall process of walkthrough rendering is very simple. First, in your design software, start Enscape, toggle the Video Editor on, and then compose a view in Enscape (see first image below). Click Add Keyframe (the + button) to define the start point. You can then continue this process along the path you would like the video to follow. The path and keyframes are visible within Enscape, as shown in the second image below. The video follows this path and morphs between each keyframe. For example, notice the view direction arrow added at each keyframe. Enscape will smoothly transition between #1 and #2 and then again between #2 and #3.

In the video editor, you can select your different keyframes by clicking on the diamond shapes on the timeline. In addition to morphing the view direction, keyframes allow other adjustments such as Time of Day, Focal point, and Field of View. The duration between keyframes can be adjusted by setting an explicit Timestamp. To finish, once the path is defined, the video may be previewed in Enscape using the Preview command (play button). If everything looks good to you, then use the Export command to make an MP4 file which can be hosted online or generally shared. Keep in mind that you can also adjust the output quality and resolution through the Visual Settings -> Capture tab beforehand.

Creating the video path

A video is created by following a camera path and defining this path has never been easier in the AEC industry when using Enscape. To begin the process, within Enscape, click the Video Editor command (or type V). This will activate the Video Editor UI within Enscape – see image below. Next, while in Enscape, simply compose a view and click the Add Keyframe + button (or type K). This adds a keyframe, represented as a diamond on the Timeline. Continue composing views and adding keyframes along the desired path until it is adequately defined to travel around objects, corners and up and down stairs.

TIP: Be sure to save your path before closing Enscape, otherwise your work will be lost!

Keyframe tools legend:

  1. Add a new keyframe, based on current Enscape view, before the first keyframe
  2. Click a diamond to select a keyframe
  3. Click between two keyframes to add a new keyframe
  4. Add a new keyframe, based on current Enscape view, after the last keyframe

Editing the video path

The path may need to be modified to adjust the view direction or avoid colliding with objects in the scene. Enscape makes this easy by allowing us to select keyframes and then visually adjust them. This process can be started within the 3D view or via the Timeline in the Video Editor. In the 3D view, hover your cursor over a camera (i.e. a keyframe) until it turns green (see next image) and then click. Notice how the camera path has arrows on it, indicating the direction of travel.

Using the controls in the Keyframe Editor, the Time of Day, Field of View, Depth of Field, and Timestamp can be overridden from the current settings. For example, if a keyframe is selected and the timestamp is adjusted, the duration of the entire video is adjusted. Or, if the time of day is adjusted in at least two keyframes, it will morph between these views. To help keep track of where overrides exist, markers are added to the Timeline as shown in the following image. These same adjustments can be seen in Enscape, next to each keyframe as shown in the second image below. It is important to remember to click Update to save changes to the current keyframe.

Save and load a path

If you want to use a path again in the future, you can save it using the Save Path to file… command as shown below. The ability to define multiple paths within the same project is an especially beneficial feature. Save these files in the project folder on the network so the entire design team has access. Once a path is saved, or if you wish to discard the current path, click New video path. The saved file is an XML file. If you edit this file, you will notice each keyframe has an X,Y,Z value for Position and LookAt. These numbers could be modified to make more precise adjustments along the path – be sure to save a copy first!

Conclusion

In today’s busy and complex world, we need tools that are both powerful and easy to use. As you have seen, Enscape makes the whole process of developing and editing a walkthrough video just that – easy. The ability to create multiple paths and save each one to be individually reloaded later increases efficiency. And, the fact that this process works the same across multiple authoring tools (Revit, SketchUp, Archicad, Vectorworks, and Rhino)

Comparison between Vray and Enscape with iRender Cloud Rendering

When it comes to rendering, the final point that would determine which one would you choose is the details. In such a competitive industry, you would want your work to stand out and catch the eyes of the targeted audience. Note that the result of using these render instruments depends on the software you’ll use (Blender, Sketchup, Maya etc). Designers ever look for realistic makes for their projection; it is the key to earn the praise of the client because it renders a preview of the final results before construction sites. Two of the most famous rendering engines on the market nowadays are Vray and Enscape.

Vray is a rendering engine that collaborates with Sketch-up to deliver realistic renders. It is also used in the VFX and cinema spawning. It is one of the strong products in the design industry. Enscape gives photo-realistic yield employing the latest techniques for better ensues. It was designed in 2013, and since 2015 the software gained a great deal of success, used in over 80 countries, and “its on” the index of top 100 architectural firms. It collaborates with multiple BIM and CAD software.

1. Modeling and interface

Vray: It’s considered as a tool or a plug-in. It collaborates with Sketch-up. All the site is shaped with Sketch-up, Vray is used only for the return part. Its boundary is simple, and it is integrated with Sketch-up’s interface–it doesn’t contain a lot of tools and options. The first option that the user needs to manage is the Vray asset editor, with which you can change the materials of any objective. Vray contains a large variation of materials for the interior and the exterior and too natural or artificial, by choosing the material the user too can configure it by controlling the color of the material, the opacity, the thought, the refraction, and contributing more texture and other different options. It is too possible to download and export clothes in Vray according to the project needs.

Enscape: On the other hand, Enscape with its great option” Virtual Reality” that helps users abbreviate hours and money for the client. This option returns the possibility to walk inside the project and discover all the aspects and the details of the design. This action, the customer can have a real vision of the results before the construction, the changes can be made before finishing the pose, and helps to avoid lapses at work. In addition, this option utters the user live in an overwhelming reality; it drives by linking headphones of virtual reality, like oculus rupture S or HTC wive, and a user is ready to discover the project. It runs perfectly in big-scale programmes, with the same workflow for small projects and with the same quality and causes. The application is also a great coordination tool between different parts of the project; it also contributes to the detection of the collisions, to avoid mistakes early in the project.

2. Settings

Vray: It volunteers a great deal of installs. The user can specify the engine rendering, CPU or GPU. It is also possible to specify the quality from low-pitched, medium to high-pitched. As for the camera, the user can choose from three natures: standard, VR geometry camera, or VR cubemap. The customer can also activate or deactivate the exposure and even specify its value, which has a relation with the camera’s sense to the light. It is likewise possible to use the DoF or the depth of domain and effects. Additionally, it is possible to specify the resolution of the image or choose one of the options that the aspect ratio offers and include a background for external rendering. It also has other advanced names for professional study, like denoiser, world beam, boosted camera parameters, hue mapping…etc.

Enscape: It also offers a lot of lays, commencing with buttons and mouse configuration to settings related to rendering style. This alternative can help users to change the style of rendering in Enscape by changing the outline and the state. Enscape offers three kinds of modes, white procedure with synopsi 0 %, white-hot state with brief descriptions of 25% or white-hot mode with sketch 75%. The consumer can also choose polystyrol mode and set up the transmitting, which controls the quantity of ignition transmitted through geometry. When using these two modes, it is better to use the dump delineates option for better making results.

3. Rendering and animation

Vray has a great strong give machine. The results are so close to reality, especially for the interior design part. Vray compensates a lot of importance to the materials, igniting settlers before the renders, and a good deal of other configuration related to the render, such as contributing composition, thoughtfulness and refraction. All these factors play a huge role in the research results last-minute. It is likewise possible to revise the interpretation last-minute in the same window. There is an option to edit the lighting, the compare, the remaining balance of the emblazons, and the saturation–no need to use another software for photo treatment. A simple supply can take only a few minutes, but if the project is big with a lot of objects with economically more advanced designates, the interpretation can take some time.

Enscape can yield any type of project, interior, and exterior, scenery, hotels, airfields, country house etc. The software also comes with a substantial library full of components; it is also compatible with the components and the qualities of the pose application. The results of the render are so realistic. The supply machine provides you with a jam-pack of definitions to control lighting, thoughtfulness, epoch and sunshine direction for better results. Although Vray offers an animation alternative, it is not advanced; it is realized only to create small animations or small videos around an objective. Enscape, on the other hand, offers the living and videos alternative and likewise panoramic pictures–it is a complete software.

The best Cloud rendering service for Enscape

iRender provides a high performance and configurable server system for 3D rendering, AI Training, VR & AR, simulation, etc. With our server, you can install any software you need, add your license, and do whatever you like with your project. These tools above are no exception. Most tools for fluids are computationally expensive. Understanding that, we have different config and package compatible with them, from CPU to single GPU, dual and even multi-GPUs.

You can see that our Server 3 configuration completely matches these above requirements for choosing a computer for Enscape. Let’s look at them in more detailed:

  • Operating System of GPU SERVER 3: Once again, we need to confirm that Enscape use GPU card to render. However, a good CPU can speed up Enscape’s loading times. Because of this reason, iRender exclusively provide the Intel Xeon W-2245 with a strong processor base frequency which is 9GHz – 4.7GHz, 8 cores and 16 threads on GPU server 3.  According to Bricsys, the minimum CPU is intel corei5.  Here at GPU server 3 of iRender, the CPU is intel xeon W-2245 which can be compared to intel corei9 9900k
  • The recommended GPU for Enscape is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD equivalent with 4GB VRAM or higher. But more than that,  the GPU of our server 3 is Gefore RTX 3090 having twice the power of Geforce GTX 1660 with 24GB vRAM.

Let’s see rendering tests with Enscape on server RTX 3090 the latest NVIDIA CARD RTX 3090 with 24GB VRAM will help you reduce your render time very much at iRender:

Moreover, iRender has many more to offer.
