Exploring new updates in Chaos Corona 12

Chaos has released Corona 12 Update 1, the latest version of its production renderer for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D. Let’s explore some important new updates with iRender!

New Updates in Chaos Corona 12

Corona to Vantage Live Link

Corona 12 Update 1 introduces an initial implementation of a Live Link. This is just a starting point though, with more functionality to come in future releases.

With this early version, Vantage can be utilized for a form of “Interactive Rendering” that refreshes in real-time as you make adjustments in 3ds Max or Cinema 4D. This detailed ray-traced GPU rendering can be beneficial in certain scenarios while developing your scene. It offers an alternative way to discover ideal camera angles, modify lighting, organize your scene, configure various material aspects, and more.

Chaos Cloud Collaboration

With this update, you can now send an image directly from the VFB to Chaos Cloud Collaboration, allowing you to share it with your client and engage in discussions using markup and comments. This eliminates the dependence on email, Dropbox, Google Drive, and similar services, plus it means your client isn’t left having to use Paint or Photoshop to draw attention to certain parts of the image.

Cloud Collaboration enables you to create multiple projects and manage their sharing options. It also takes care of image versioning throughout the project and serves as a convenient method for delivering final renders.

To sum up, Cloud Collaboration makes it easy to share images with your clients, sending them right from the VFB. Then, you can discuss changes via markup, send deliverables, set up Virtual Tours, and open the door to much more in the future.

Faster Caustics

The first improvement to Caustics will now give a significantly cleaner result in the same amount of render time. Can not specify an exact figure for the speed increase since it largely depends on the prevalence of caustics in your scene. If caustics are the primary focus of the scene, you’ll experience a more significant speed improvement compared to a scene where caustics have a minor role.

As an approximation, Caustics themselves should be visually “about twice as good” in the same amount of render time.

Caustics Multiplier

The second Caustics improvement allows you to adjust the intensity of the Caustics in the Beauty pass, removing the need to use render elements and post-processing to get the results you are looking for.

Please note that you must set the Surface Multiplier at render time – it cannot be adjusted in post. IR can be used to find the right value before committing to a final render.

Volumetric Caustics

The final Caustics improvement is that you now have the option to enable the visibility of reflected or refracted rays created from Caustics as they pass through a Volumetric material.  A common illustration of this is sunlight underwater, where the refraction of light through the shifting water surface creates a captivating display of light beams within the water volume.

Let’s see other cases, such as underwater swimming pool lights passing through steam in a heated pool or jacuzzi, or light beams reflecting off the mirrored surface of a disco/mirror ball through the dry ice in the atmosphere of a night club, or sunlight reflected off windows through an early morning mist and more.

With surface Caustics, you can control the intensity of the volume Caustics in the Beauty pass.

Auto Exposure, Auto White Balance & improved White Balance

First comes Auto Exposure, a checkbox that lets Corona 12 choose the exposure values for you, just like when using a modern camera. This can serve as a simple starting point, with the option to make additional adjustments through the regular Exposure control or to bake them into the tone mapping.

If “Update during animation” is checked, then the automatic exposure and/or white balance will be recalculated for each frame of an animation, helping with scenes that move from dimly to brightly lit areas.

Additionally, a “Strength” parameter ranges from 0, which means no exposure adjustment, to a maximum of 1, where the calculated auto exposure value is fully applied. This allows for automatic adjustments to exposure or white balance for an effective starting point or to respond to changing lighting during animations. Furthermore, a new algorithm enhances white balance for more pleasing outcomes.

Auto White Balance functions have the same possibilities as mentioned above. There’s one extra improvement to White Balance though, as we have changed the algorithm it uses to one that gives a more natural look. For compatibility, any existing scenes will load with a “Legacy White Balance” to ensure they render the same as before. In new scenes, the new White Balance will be the default. While the difference is subtle, the results are more in line with the effects of White Balance in other popular software like Photoshop.

Image Upscaling

NVIDIA’s new Image Upscaling offers two key benefits.

First, it enables quick test animations by rendering images at a quarter size (e.g., 960×540 for 1920×1080) and then using AI Upscaler, resulting in a rendering speed that’s approximately four times faster. However, these animations lack temporal consistency, leading to noticeable flickering.

Second, when enabled for Image Refresh (IR), it can improve responsiveness during editing, although parsing times may limit this benefit. It’s particularly useful for scene setup, lighting, and camera angles but less effective for detailed material editing due to reduced detail.

Please note that NVIDIA Denoising is always applied to the image when Upscaling is used, both in IR and rendering modes. Also, just like NVIDIA Denoising, this requires a compatible NVIDIA card.

New updates in NVIDIA’s Omniverse

Recently, NVIDIA announced its latest updates to NVIDIA’s Omniverse, its real-time 3D design collaboration platform.

The highlights include new generative Blender AIs add-ons integration with Audio2Face – NVIDIA’s free AI-based tool for generating facial animation from audio.

In addition, the Al-based painting tool Canvas will become part of the Omniverse family, with the next update also making it possible to generate 360-degree environments suitable for use in 3D scenes.

A USD-based collaboration platform

Animators, creators, and developers can use new AI-powered tools to reimagine 3D environments, simulations, and the metaverse — the 3D evolution of the internet.

Based on the Universal Scene Description (USD) framework, the NVIDIA Omniverse platform — which enables the development of metaverse applications — is expanding with Blender enhancements and a new suite of experimental generative AI tools for 3D artists.

Data is exchanged between compatible CAD and DCC applications and Omniverse in USD format, with connector plugins available for tools including 3ds Max, Maya, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp and Unreal Engine.

As well as the Omniverse core, Nvidia has released frontend applications for specific tasks, including Omniverse Create for scene layout and editing, and Omniverse View for scene review.

Audio2Face, plus new version of Canvas soon

A new release for Blender, now available in the Omniverse Launcher, is bringing 3D generative AI capabilities to Blender users everywhere. A new panel lets Blender users easily transfer shape keys and rigged characters.  The challenge of reattaching a rigged character’s head can now be solved with a one-button operation from Omniverse Audio2Face — an AI-enabled tool that automatically generates realistic facial expressions from an audio file.

Another new panel for scene optimization lets users create USD scenes within their multi-app 3D workflows more easily and in real-time.

In addition, Audio2Face, Audio2Gesture, and Audio2Emotion — generative AI tools that enable instant 3D character animation — are getting performance updates that make it easier for developers and creators to integrate into their current 3D pipelines.

Creators can generate facial expressions from an audio file using Audio2Face; realistic emotions ranging from happy and excited to sad and regretful with Audio2Emotion; and realistic upper-body movement using Audio2Gesture. These audio-to-animation tools are game-changers for 3D artists, eliminating the need to perform tedious, manual tasks.

AI-assisted creator tools are expanding to even more communities of creative and technical professionals. When NVIDIA Canvas was introduced, it empowered artists to seamlessly generate landscapes and iterate on them with simple brushstrokes and AI. Coming soon, all RTX users will be able to download an update to Canvas that introduces 360 surround images to create and conceptualize panoramic environments and beautiful images. The AI ToyBox, which features extensions derived from NVIDIA Research, enables creators to generate 3D meshes from 2D inputs.

Latest Omniverse Platform Updates

  • Early access for the Unity Omniverse Connector is now available.
  • Blender alpha release, now available in the Omniverse Launcher, enables users to repair geometry, generate automatic UVs and decimate high-resolution CAD data to more usable polycounts.
  • Audio2Face, Audio2Emotion and Audio2Gesture updates better enable instant, realistic animation of characters, now available in Omniverse Audio2Face and Omniverse Machinima.
  • NVIDIA Canvas is coming soon to the Omniverse Launcher with new capabilities that enable the creation of 360-degree landscapes with simple brushstrokes. Users can import the environments into 3D apps to test different settings and lighting.
  • AI ToyBox of experimental tools, built by NVIDIA Research, that include GET3D, an Omniverse extension that generates trainable 3D models from 2D images, letting developers use their own datasets to rapidly create models for 3D virtual worlds, is now available in the Omniverse Extension Manager.
  • Thousands of new, free 3D assets are now available worldwide for users to build and create within Omniverse.

Basic knowledge while using Cinema 4D license with iRender

MAXON Cinema 4D is a leading 3D software that provides outstanding modeling, sculpting, animation, and rendering features for a very efficient 3D workflow. Maxon requires Cinema 4D users to have a license in order to use authorized Cinema 4D. Here are a few notices that users might face while using Cinema 4D license.

Cinema 4D License says 14 days remaining when users have a full license.

Most likely this refers to the time period before Cinema 4D needed to check with the server for license validation aka “Online Sync Due”. It does not mean that your license will expire after 14 days. This means you can get 14 days of use without an internet connection.

The dates located to the right of the clock icon refer to the amount of time remaining before C4D needs to check-in or “sync” with the servers to validate the license; the “Online Sync Due” date. This is nothing you need to worry about unless your machine goes offline, because every time you launch C4D or open the Cinema 4D License Manager, the clock resets to the 14-day allowed offline limit. Only when you go offline, the 14 days will start counting down. This is a security measure, so if you do happen to go offline, you are not immediately thrown off and have 14 days to reconnect. If for some reason the 14 days is counting down, you will start getting notifications days before there is no more time left.

Here is an example to make this more clear:

The date shown is 09/12/2020, and if this machine were to go offline, it would have 14 days to gain an internet connection and sync up with our servers to validate the license. So, if the machine “AtomicSamurai” goes offline; it would need to connect to the internet and check-in by 09/26/2020.

Inside Cinema 4D > Help > Licence Manager – S22 and onwards;

Struggle to connect to Maxon Account through Cinema 4D and browser (No Offline License Found)

If you struggle to reach either MyMaxon or maxon.net through either Cinema 4D or your browser, please check your network connection and ensure you have a connection to the Internet.

If you have a connection but still struggle to connect, check your internet configuration, including any proxy settings you may have.

For the proxy the following addresses have to be whitelisted:

https://id.maxon.net

https://my.maxon.net

https://assets.maxon.net

Then choose the folder where your assets live, and click “Select Folder”.  You will need to close and re-open Cinema 4D, to load the database properly, but after that they should all load in, same as your previous version.

How to switch from the Trial to Commercial or Educational license inside Cinema 4D?

In the Cinema 4D License Manager all you’ll need to do is hit the “Switch To” button on your available license. You will then be prompted with a window asking you to confirm the switch; you will hit “yes“. At this point you should now be using your commercial or educational license. Finally, hit “OK” at the bottom of the Cinema 4D License Manager, and start creating!

If you are not prompted with the Cinema 4D License Manager during launch, you can access the Cinema 4D License Manager by going to Help > License Manager in the Cinema 4D Toolbar.

Ways to Render/Export in After Effects with iRender (Part2)

After long hours of work you want to lay back and see it rendering, the most basic way of exporting or rendering your project in After Effects is by using its own render engine. Unfortunately, Adobe stopped allowing us to render in small formats such as MP4 from After Effects. Media Encoder comes as a bundle together with the installation of After Effects. Media Encoder can be purchased today from Adobe as a monthly subscription together with After Effects, for only $20.99 per month.

This takes us to the second method to render/export in After Effects. You can bridge your project directly inside Media Encoder and here you will be able to select many other types of file formats, including MP4 or H.264.

Step 1: Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue

When you want to bridge your project directly inside Media Encoder, you simply go to the Composition drop-down menu from the top left corner of the window and select “Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue

By doing this it will open up Media Encoder and your composition will be loaded inside it.

Step 2: Choose your file format, name & destination

Now just press on the first blue text associated with your composition, this will open up a new window in which you will choose the name, the destination, and one of them any file formats Media Encoder can provide, even MP4.

Step 3: Edit the settings for your video

Here you can also save presets like in After Effects and access them to speed up your work. After you’ve done everything press “Ok”.

Step 4: Render

Go to the top right corner of the window and press the green triangle to start the render.

One of the benefits of the encoder is that using it to render compositions lets you continue to work within Adobe After Effects, whereas rendering video in After Effects stops you from working on your composition until the render is complete. If you’re busy using AE and don’t want to interrupt your work with bulk rendering, try Adobe Media Encoder instead.

Adobe After Effects is a video editing and visual effects software used for editing film and handling post-production, as well as mastering audio, generating animation, and creating motion effects. It’s a professional-level video modification tool, and if you know how to render/export video from After Effects, then you can quickly share the high-quality media you produce to the world. There are 2 most-used ways to render/export videos that After Effects users should utilize.

The first method is Internal Render in After Effects using the Render Queue, below are the following steps that demonstrate clearly how to render/export videos.

Step 1: Click Composition in the menu

Begin the process of rendering in After Effects. To render in After Effects – which lets you adjust the duration, resolution, output frame rate, and layer quality of your project – check out the top menu and locate Composition. Composition is the dropdown to remember for your rendering, encoding, and exporting needs. Once you click the dropdown, you’ll see several options – select Add to Render Queue in After Effects.

Step 2: Add to Render Queue

The Render Queue is a window at the bottom of your screen that lets you adjust Render Settings, set your Output Module, and choose where you want to export your video (by clicking Output To). Before you render the video in After Effects, take a minute to explore these settings.

Note that you can also navigate to the Render Queue by clicking File, Export, and Render Queue as well.

Step 3: Adjust your render settings if necessary

For beginners and most people in general, Best Settings are called best for a reason. Unless you have specific rendering needs, then leave this as it is.

And for the Output Module, you can leave it on Lossless if you’re looking to export the highest quality video file. Or you can click Custom in the dropdown and select details like the codec, color range, and audio-related settings.

Step 4: Render

Next, you can press the “Render” button. It will be situated on the lower-right side of the window.

Step 5: Export from After Effects

Now that you know how to render video in After Effects, it’s time to export video out of After Effects.

Click the dropdown arrow next to the Output To text, and press the plus sign if you want to render and export multiple versions with different settings. Choose where on your computer you’d like your new video exported, and once it’s complete you’ll be able to access it at that location.

This is the fastest way to export a composition in After Effects. And if you’re curious about how to render in After Effects without using the Render Queue, you can try rendering your composition using Adobe’s Media Encoder. In the next article, we will explain detail this second method.

Revit Rendering Plugins In Comparison

Architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers, designers, and contractors can use Autodesk Revit to create building information models. In today’s article, let’s look at some of Revit’s most popular rendering tools. iRender hopes this Revit Rendering Plugins comparison can help you to have the best option for your project.

VRAY

PROS:

  • A precise rendering tool with a large number of advanced settings and customization options.

CONS:

  • The default textures are unattractive. Creating unique textures can be time-consuming and difficult.
  • To make a good sky with clouds, you’ll need Photoshop.
  • Default Revit’s entourage does not appear to be in excellent shape.

Many people adore Vray, an old-school raytracing plugin. Vray is noted for its strong performance in terms of rendering interior and exterior scenes, as well as its ability to work with materials and lighting. However, you must model the sceneries yourself or import them from other 3D program because Vray does not have a personal library of objects to use.  Therefore, Vray is not a smart choice if you are in a hurry. It can be an interesting choice if you have a lot of time on your hands to develop bespoke textures and post-process the image.

Lumion

PROS:

  • Spectacular artifacts, trees, and people can all be found at the library.
  • It’s a lot of fun to use, and it’s a lot of
  • Without Photoshop, you can get a good-looking sky, grass, and atmosphere.

CONS:

  • The user interface is a tad perplexing at times.
  • The default textures aren’t particularly appealing.

Lumion has a huge selection of items and 3D elements, as well as everything else you’ll need for a scene. It was built and set for use in urban projects, not for external renders, from the start. As a result, if you wish to build interior scenarios, the library’s selection of interior elements and objects is limited.
Lumion is a powerful and heavy software based on the quality of the renders and the capabilities it provides, thus it requires a high-performance computer with a single graphics card and plenty of memory. To keep the processor and GPU card from overheating, a desktop computer with a decent ventilation system is advised. Lumion is only available for Windows; there is no Mac version.

Enscape

PROS:

  • Without the use of Photoshop, this sky is still very stunning.
  • Revit families were automatically replaced with a great-looking entourage.
  • Sharp colors.

  • Great overall illumination and exposure, with just enough light for the shaded side.

  • Interesting reflections.
  • The user interface is simple to use, and you have complete control over the settings.

CONS:

  • There is a limited number of people/trees to accompany you. (*update: an asset library is now included in the new Enscape 2.4 release.)

Enscape’s settings are incredibly simple to use and test. The auto-exposure and global illumination features let you generate a good-looking perspective in a short amount of time. Enscape is a plugin or addon in the sense that it doesn’t have a lot of commands and tools, and it’s also basic and straightforward to use without requiring a lot of setting. The latest version of Enscape has a useful tool that enables for quick selection and viewing of all BIM information inside a project from within the Enscape window. Furthermore, manipulating cameras in Enscape is simple; it aids in turning around objects or projects and setting up sceneries. It also includes a big number of realistic textures for improved rendering.

Twinmotion

PROS:

  • Good trees and a library for the entourage
  • The user interface is entertaining.
  • Textures that are good

CONS:

  • Clouds with an odd appearance
  • Strange reflections and shadows

Lumion’s spiritual brother is Twinmotion. They have a user interface that is comparable to that of a video game. They both have a large collection of goods, people, and trees in their libraries. To produce a nice rendering, they both take about the same amount of time. Although Lumion has a slight advantage, Twinmotion is still a viable option.

The default rendering test generates some fascinating textures, but shadows and reflections are absent. To create a realistic effect, you’ll need to spend more time tweaking the camera settings and textures, exactly like with Lumion.

Conclusion

This is some Revit Rendering Plugins and the comparison. iRender hopes you can find a suitable plugin for your projects. At iRender, we have developed multiple RTX 3090 workstations specifically optimized and configured for GPU rendering workflows, from single- GPU 1x RTX 3090 to Multi-GPU 2/4/6/8 x RTX 3090, you can choose one server that is suitable for your demand and your software to get started. You are guaranteed to experience maximum performance for your budget. Users will remotely connect to our server, install their software only one time and easily do any intensive tasks like using their local computers. We offer clients the powerful processor Intel Xeon W-2245 @ 3.90GHz / AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3955WX @ 3.90GHz and up to 1 TB SSD to load your scene quickly.

Enscape 3.3 Takes Real-Time Architectural Visualization to the Next Level

Enscape, one of architecture’s most popular real-time Architectural Visualization, 3D rendering, and virtual reality applications, just got better. Its latest version, version 3.3, brings numerous improvements to existing features as well as a host of new functions, each designed to make real-time rendering more intuitive to use at every stage of the design process.

Enscape brings the fields of design and visualization together, creating a unified experience that allows designers to dynamically collaborate on their projects and communicate their ideas to customers in an easy-to-understand way.

So, what can users expect from the new and improved Enscape application? Here are some key new features to look out for:

Site context

The project’s existing surroundings can now be imported directly into the render, using data from the OpenStreetMap global geodatabase. Users can enter a specific address or coordinates to locate and instantly enter their surroundings, or select and enter key landmarks, streets, or terrain.

Alpha channel export

With the Alpha Channel Export feature, you can now render images with transparent backgrounds. This means your project can now be quickly and easily combined with any sky, cloud, and horizon style in post-production, giving Enscape a layer of flexibility. new for rendering still images.

Education Assets and Materials

Enscape’s library of popular 3D content has been completely expanded to include an extensive collection of educational content, including classroom furniture, toys, musical instruments, playground equipment, soundboards, etc. The Enscape material library, introduced in Enscape 3.1, has also been expanded with materials such as new backgrounds and different types of rugs.

While they will be categorized under Education and are perfectly suited for kindergarten, school, and college projects, these assets and materials are also useful for many other types, including projects companies, hotels and residential areas.

In addition to these outstanding new features, many other enhancements were introduced to Enscape 3.3, each with the goal of improving ease of use and improving the end product for users.

Additional Features

In terms of rendering capabilities, visualizations including glass and water are now more accurate thanks to improved graphics capabilities; Transparent materials now appear as reflective, providing a more realistic appearance. A graphics card that supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, such as NVIDIA RTX series and AMD RX6xxx series, is required. Additionally, a new “Material Overwrite” function allows users to replace Enscape document files in the Enscape Material Editor without manually importing and exporting them.

In terms of user experience, it is now possible to ‘pin’ the Enscape render window and associated menus to the top of your modeling window, allowing easy access to see real-time changes right away even when you’re not using two monitors. New upload migration capabilities have also been introduced, allowing users to efficiently manage uploads, such as standalone web and uploaded panoramas, online.
